Lister House Nursing Home established in 1990, provides 24-hour nursing care for 32 ladies and gentlemen for both long and short stays. Our Certificate of Registration enables us to care for 32 adults with Nursing / Residential Care and Palliative Care / Terminal Illness 'One of our many special ladies lived here until she was 103 years old, and what a lot she taught us.' Our intention is to provide care that allows our ladies and gentlemen an enjoyable life with maximum independence and dignity in safe and comfortable surroundings. We aim to do this by providing the appropriate degree of care and support needed to meet the individual needs of each person. We hope the individual
care matched with a happy, homely environment, will encourage a happy,
healthy life. Prior to admission, everyone is assessed by Matron or a qualified Nurse, to ensure we can meet personal, social and nursing needs. Trained nurses will holistically assess all clients on admission and an individual care plan formulated with the client and/or their family. This care plan will be based on historical, current and future needs and expectations, and will follow a process of continual review and evaluation. An annual review in the form of a written report collated from the homes records, staff information, outside agencies e.g. GP, Specialist Nurses and input from the client, their family and/or friends will be arranged. 24 hour professional nursing care is delivered by Registered General Nurses and trained Care Assistants. Medical care is provided by the clients GP of choice providing the GP is practicing within the area, therefore it may be necessary to change GP if being admitted from outside the area. All medication prescribed by the clients GP or hospital is administered by Registered Nurses. All clients have a right to refuse medication, if this arises, discussion the client and GP will be arranged. All medications (including homely remedies) brought into the home must be declared and/or handed over to the Nurse-in-Charge who will check with the prescribing GP, before handing over to the client. This is to prevent overdosing and interaction of medicines. Clients requesting to self medicate, will be assessed and if considered acceptable must comply with Lister House Nursing Home Self-Medicating Policy. Inside the home, we have a number of communal rooms; we have two lounges, a conservatory and two dining rooms. These rooms are for relaxing, and for social activities.
